Orange Cranberry Jam

11 days to go and time for some christmassy breakfast.

This orange cranberry jam can be made in advance, canned in jars and given as gifts, or just put in a big pot in the fridge and enjoyed.


500g fresh oranges (Navel are great, but whatever you think twists the best)

300g cranberries, frozen or fresh (dried if you can’t find either…) if your using dried cut down to 250g

650g white sugar

150 ml grand marnier

500ml water

1TBS Lemon juice


In a medium saucepan add water, sugar, lemon juice, grand marnier, and cranberries.

Peel your oranges, careful to get any of the whit pith on the peel. Shred the peel and add to the pot.

Juice the oranges and add the un strained juice (no seads) to the pot.

Bring mix to the boil and stir until all sugar is desolved, the lower temperature to a simmer and cook for at least 30 mins.

Whilst simmering give your cranberries a good mash. A potato masher works great.

Once the mix has reached setting point, around 105 C 220F you can pour into your prepared jars. ( instruction for steralizing jars usually comes with the jars)

Now you just need to let them cool at room temperature and enjoy your jam on toast or a croissant or whatever.
